Downtime

We are through the first phases of settling in here. For a while, there was a Major Event every day: Terence’s arrival, first day of school, move to our ‘real’ apartment, Margaret’s birthday, Julie’s return home. Then yesterday we pushed ourselves on Shabbat, heading to the Old City again and to the Rockefeller Museum.

So today is recovery day. By 10 AM, Terence had already taken a nap. Margaret was watching iPhoto slideshows from the past several years and Hannah was reading her way (way too quickly) through our landlords’ English book collection.

Just like in Delaware, Terence and I get antsy much faster than our kids do. They basically just love hanging out. And the past few weeks have been utterly exhausting for them. Every simple trip to the park is a tiring cross-cultural experience. So, we need to pace ourselves, slow down, and remember that we have all year to see and do things.
